Cultural ambassadors on wheels: SPK and Flix agree mobility partnership for the Museum Island Berlin

Press release from 12/19/2024

From 2025, Museum Island Berlin will be celebrating its 200th anniversary - starting with the anniversary of the laying of the foundation stone for the Altes Museum on 9 July. The travel company Flix and SPK have joined forces to enable even more people to enjoy culture and publicise the island's anniversary.

From January 2025, ten FlixBuses will be travelling as "cultural ambassadors on wheels". With special Museum Island branding, they will draw attention to the anniversary on various routes from locations in Germany and neighbouring countries to Berlin. Flix customers will benefit from a range of advantages: A contingent of free museum tickets and special giveaways have been reserved for them. Flix and the SPK will also be organising joint events on Berlin's Museum Island.

Hermann Parzinger, President of the SPK, explains: "The collaboration with Flix opens up new opportunities for us to get people excited about the diversity of Museum Island Berlin with its cultural highlights and to bring them directly to us. At the same time, Flix is also supporting the anniversary financially, which is a strong signal in these times. This commitment also emphasises the economic importance of the cultural sector."

Daniel Krauss, CIO and co-founder of Flix, explains: "Especially in times of tight budgets for the cultural sector, we want to make a difference. With this partnership, we are showing that mobility and culture can go hand in hand. We are proud to be working with Museum Island to bring a unique anniversary to life for everyone."

The anniversary: Museum Island200
