Take a break with ‘Luise’ – the new SPK magazine is out now

Press release from 10/09/2026

An artistic perspective on the SPK’s collections – free of charge and bilingual – Ackermann: “a poetic journey through the galleries”

From mid-October, ‘Luise’, the new magazine from the Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation (SPK), will be available in numerous SPK museums and institutions. The magazine explores the Foundation’s collections from a variety of perspectives: female artists such as Katharina Sieverding, Raphaela Vogel and Mavie Hörbiger; writers such as Leif Randt, Eckhart Nickel and Senthuran Varatharajah, as well as many other creative minds, explore in their writings the diversity and dazzling power of the museums, archives and libraries, writing about the portraits in the Gemäldegalerie or the Aleppo Room in the Pergamon Museum.

The theme of the first issue of ‘Luise’ is pause, taking a moment to reflect, and contemplation. ‘Time to reflect has become a luxury these days,’ says SPK President Marion Ackermann. “I am delighted that, with ‘Luise’, we are able to offer visitors such a poetic and insightful journey through our institutions. Photographer Christian Werner, for instance, has dedicated a photo essay to the quiet corners of the Foundation, whilst Florian Illies reflects on the legacy of the magazine’s Prussian namesake, Queen Luise.”

‘Luise’ was conceived by Holger Liebs and Timo Feldhaus, whilst the first issue was designed by the renowned Swiss graphic designer Gian Gisiger. The magazine is bilingual (German/English) and is published twice a year. It can be ordered at presse(at)spk-berlin(dot)de.

“Luise” was made possible by the Board of Trustees of the Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation.
