Almost 15,000 visitors to the Day in the Green at the Kulturforum Berlin - a paradise in the best autumn weather

Press release from 09/14/2025

15,000 visitors accepted the invitation to the fourth "Day in the Green" at the Kulturforum Berlin on 14 September 2025. The cultural and scientific institutions located there and the Church of St. Matthew had organised a broad programme with over 70 guided tours, concerts, workshops, performances and open hands-on activities on the theme of paradise.

Around 2,800 visitors took the opportunity to visit the museums at the Kulturforum with the discounted special ticket. The Philharmonie Berlin counted around 1,800 visitors to its indoor events, the St. Matthew's Foundation 450. Around 200 people attended the concerts at the Ibero-American Institute and the events at the Wissenschaftszentrum Berlin.

In beautiful autumn weather, the outdoor events were also well attended: From 12 noon to 7 pm, around 7,000 people lingered under the trees of the "Baumschule Kulturforum" and enjoyed the picnic they had brought with them or the snacks from the open kitchen of the artists* of the Feuerundflamme alliance and the food trucks, or even the musical performances by young Berlin bands. Berlin's Senator for Culture Sarah Wedl-Wilson, former Minister of State for Culture Claudia Roth and the Director of Diakonisches Werk Berlin-Brandenburg-schlesische Oberlausitz, Ursula Schoen, were among the guests at the table in the countryside.

During the evening participatory performance "Bells for Peace" at the Neue Nationalgalerie, which took place at the end of Yoko Ono's exhibition and as part of Berlin Art Week, the Kulturforum came to a brief standstill: an overwhelming 5,000 people rang their bells and chimes to create an act of hope and solidarity and a vision of change.

Marion Ackermann, President of the SPK, explains: "Today, at the day in the green around the construction site of 'berlin modern', we saw once again what potential the Kulturforum has! We were able to reach a total of around 15,000 people with joint activities organised by all residents and the wide range of events on offer in all the buildings. Our goal for the coming years is to realise this potential even more!"

Andrea Zietzschmann, Artistic Director of the Berliner Philharmoniker Foundation, says: "The table in the greenery makes it tangible how the Kulturforum connects people in their diversity and becomes a lively place of togetherness. We also experience this sense of togetherness in our concerts, when musicians from 35 nations perform together. Special thanks go to our education department, which once again put together a colourful programme for young and old with workshops, guided tours, craft activities and concerts on the Velo Stage."

In his speech, Pastor Hannes Langbein also emphasised the extensive range of food on offer at the table and thanked the Feuerundflamme alliance, which enriched the Day in the Green with its culinary creations for the second time.

The Day in the Green 2025 was realised with the support of the LOTTO Foundation Berlin, the Diakonisches Werk Berlin-Brandenburg-schlesische Oberlausitz and the Fördergemeinschaft Ökologischer Landbau Berlin-Brandenburg e.V..
