From audio guides to a comprehensive digital visitor experience – the Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation and Bloomberg launch a partnership for digital education and outreach

Press release from 09/01/2026

Expansion of digital outreach – including new ways to access content, in-depth material and new feedback channels – Ackermann: “We are strengthening education and outreach as the SPK’s core mission.”

The Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation (SPK) and Bloomberg are launching a multi-year partnership to further expand the Foundation’s digital educational and outreach programmes. The aim is to create modern and accessible ways to engage with the SPK’s museums, collections and institutions, and to further develop its digital offerings for a range of target groups. Via the free Bloomberg Connects app, visitors will not only have access to audio tours, but also to information about exhibitions, events, research activities and other programmes.

A key focus is on additional digital educational programmes for children, teenagers and young adults, as well as on inclusive and accessible ways to engage with the collections. In addition, digital tours are being developed for selected works and themes, such as provenance and architectural tours. These digital resources help visitors prepare for their visit, enhance the on-site experience and offer further opportunities for engagement afterwards. Behind-the-scenes insights, visitor information and feedback options complement the museum visit and make it easier to navigate the diverse range of offerings from the SPK’s museums and institutions.

The first digital offerings from the Altes Museum and the Museum of European Cultures have been available via Bloomberg Connects since 27 July. As well as information about the museum building, the Altes Museum’s app offers an audio tour of the special exhibition ‘Grundstein Antike’, a tour of the museum’s highlights and a tour in plain language. Furthermore, visitors can explore the museum’s collections by culture and theme. Sections such as ‘Images of Ancient Myths’, ‘Materials and Manufacturing Techniques’ and ‘Female Figures in Antiquity’ invite visitors to discover works from the collection from thematic perspectives. The Museum of European Cultures app was launched to mark the opening of the special exhibition ‘The Mountains of Tyrol’. As well as a family tour of the exhibition, it also provides information about the museum and selected objects from the permanent exhibition ‘Cultural Contacts: Life in Europe’.

Marion Ackermann, President of the Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation (SPK): “Thanks to this partnership, we can offer our visitors a significantly more comprehensive museum experience. They can explore the collections digitally before their visit, select themed tours whilst at the museum, or delve even deeper into their favourite works afterwards. In this way, we are strengthening education and outreach as the SPK’s core mission.”
