I am particularly looking forward to our Berlin cultural partners, whom we have invited. The Deutsches Theater, the Volksbühne, the Berliner Ensemble, the Staatsoper Unter den Linden and the Komische Oper will be 'serenading' the Museum Island," says SPK President Hermann Parzinger.

Matthias Wemhoff, spokesman for the Museum Island: "The island deserves a five-year programme for its anniversary! And a three-day island festival - what a fantastic start! We are delighted to be able to offer not only a great programme, but also special admission prices. And then comes the island summer with last year's celebrated Kolonnadenbar, which this year invites you to enjoy the island for longer than ever before with a view of the Spree."

World Heritage Day on Sunday 1 June will be celebrated with a ceremony at 11:00 a.m., which will be opened by the new SPK President Marion Ackermann on her first day in office.
