Foundation President Hermann Parzinger on the Science Council's recommendations: a first step and a great opportunity
Press release from 07/13/2020
The German Council of Science and Humanities today presented the results of its evaluation of the Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation. Foundation President Hermann Parzinger comments:
"I would like to thank the German Council of Science and Humanities for the comprehensive analysis, the critical debate and the recommendation for a far-reaching reform. I am convinced that we have taken the right step with this evaluation in order to better capitalise on the great collections and excellent knowledge that are united under the umbrella of the Foundation in the future. I would like to thank the Minister of State for Culture, Monika Grütters, who is also the Chair of our Board of Trustees and who had the courage to tackle the reform of the Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation with all possible consequences and put everything to the test. I would also like to thank the employees who supported the evaluation with great openness and dedication. I am convinced that the key to further development lies in greater autonomy and responsibility for the individual institutions and in flatter hierarchies. However, there are still many far-reaching issues to be clarified. I am sure that the results presented here are a good starting point for an objective and goal-orientated discussion in public, in the media and not least in the political arena. Ultimately, the aim is to strengthen the development potential with a future structure and to promote rather than damage the national and international reputation and appeal."
