If you have a university degree, you can complete a traineeship at the Foundation to prepare for higher civil service in a library or archive. Legal trainees can fulfil their administrative or elective stage here.
Training for the upper grade of the civil service in archives lasts three years. It is subdivided into three months spent studying at the Fachhochschule für öffentliche Verwaltung in Mayen, fifteen months of practical training and eighteen months of theoretical training at the Geheimes Staatsarchiv Preussischer Kulturbesitz (Prussian Secret State Archives). The theoretical portion of the training takes place at the Archivschule Marburg. The current listings for positions in the upper grade of the civil service in archives at the Foundation can be found in the Open Positions portal.
