The 2024 Budget

The budget of the Stiftung Preussischer Kulturbesitz is divided into an operating budget and a capital budget. The budget plan calls for total expenditures of approximately 408.5 million euros for the year 2024.

At the end of each year, the Foundation Board approves the budget of the Stiftung Preußischer Kulturbesitz for the following year. The budget is then adopted as part of the federal budget. The Foundation’s overall budget is divided into an operating budget and a capital budget. The operating budget includes funding for personnel and materials. The contributions from the federal government and the states to finance the foundation are determined in accordance with the 1996 agreement.

The budget for 2024 provides for total expenditures of approximately 408.5 million euros. For the 2024 operating budget, a budget of approximately 302.3 million euros is planned, including expected own revenue and third-party funding. Of this amount, the federal government contributes approximately 178.7 million euros and the states approximately 58 million euros. The Hamburger Bahnhof – Museum für Gegenwart – Berlin will also again receive a special grant from the federal government. As in recent years, this amounts to 938,000 euros for operations. The federal government is providing 4.8 million euros to finance the ongoing operation of the Humboldt Forum.

In 2024, approximately 106 million euros will be available to the Foundation for construction projects. Since 2003, the federal government has borne the construction costs of the Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation entirely on its own.
