The 2021 Budget

The budget of the Stiftung Preussischer Kulturbesitz is divided into an operating budget and a construction budget. The budget plan for 2021 includes total expenditures of around 368,95 million euros.

At the end of each year, the Foundation Board establishes the budget of the Stiftung Preussischer Kulturbesitz for the following year. The budget is passed as part of the federal budget. The Foundation’s budget is divided into an operating budget and a construction budget. The operating budget includes the personnel and material costs. The contributions of the federal government and the federal states to the financing of the Foundation are established in accordance with the 1996 agreement.

The budget for 2021 plans for total expenditures of around 368,95 million euros. The operating budget for 2021, including anticipated receipts and third-party funding, totals around 237 million euros. Of this the federal government provides 147,98 million euros and the states 49,33 million euros. In addition, the Hamburger Bahnhof – Museum für Gegenwart – Berlin (Hamburger Bahnhof – Museum for Contemporary Art – Berlin) will receive a special subsidy from the federal government. As in recent years, it will be 938,000 euros. As in the previous year, the federal government alone is financing the subsidy for the move to Humboldt Forum with around 6,3 million euros.

In 2021 the Foundation has 131 million euros available for construction projects. The construction projects of the Stiftung Preussischer Kulturbesitz have been funded by the federal government alone since 2003.
