Love is everything - the SPK gives its all and participates with 17 museums in the Long Night of Museums on 30 August - Ackermann: The public can look forward to many attractions

Press release from 08/28/2025

The Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation is taking part in the 43rd Long Night of Museums with 17 museums, which starts on 30 August under the motto "Love in Berlin". This year's focus will be on the Museum Island, which is celebrating its 200th anniversary.

All the buildings on the "island" are open. The world-famous treasures in the famous buildings can be visited: from Nefertiti in the Neues Museum and the "Praying Boy" in the Altes Museum to the portrait busts of the Italian Renaissance in the Bode Museum and the French Impressionists in the Alte Nationalgalerie.

"I am delighted that we have once again succeeded in putting together an attractive programme for this classic event on Berlin's museum calendar. The 'Long Night' is and will remain a unique event. We are once again hoping for many visitors to the Museum Island, the Kulturforum, the Hamburger Bahnhof, the Humboldt Forum, the Museum of Photography and the Scharf-Gerstenberg Collection and are happy to embrace the motto 'Love in Berlin'. The State Library and the Musical Instrument Museum of the State Institute for Music Research will also be involved. You can experience great emotions, moving stories and unforgettable encounters," says SPK President Marion Ackermann.

For example, the crossover dance event "I am in love with ..." at the Bode Museum offers a special opportunity to dance in a place that is not a club. In the Gemäldegalerie , on the other hand, the special short concerts under the motto "Liebe zur Musik. Music for Love" are dedicated to this year's motto. The short guided tours "Most BeLOVEd" in the Neue Nationalgalerie will explore the question of how love whispers. In the Scharf-Gerstenberg Collection, colourful love cocktails will be served on the occasion of the "STRANGE!" exhibition. The extraordinary story of Oskar, Magdalena and Katharina Heinroth, who once lived in Berlin's most unusual shared flat, can be experienced in the Stabi Kulturwerk at the Berlin State Library. Between 1904 and 1932, Oskar Heinroth and his first wife Magdalena raised over 250 different bird species in a rented flat in Berlin - from the tiny wren to the white-tailed eagle. What began as a shared ornithological passion became a pioneering project in behavioural research. Guided tours are offered at 18.30, 20.00 and 21.30. The Musical Instrument Museum of the State Institute for Music Research at the Kulturforum will be transformed into a tango café for the first time this year. Gabriela Pereira and Luciano Troncoso will enthral their guests with a passionate performance, accompanied live by the tango ensemble Pablo Woiz. After the dance show, visitors to the "Long Night" can learn their first tango steps themselves - without any previous knowledge.
