Johann Herzberg becomes Chief Information Officer for SPK

The Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation gets a Chief Information Officer - Digital transformation is progressing
In recent years, the SPK has taken numerous steps to develop further in the area of digitalisation. Since 2017, new measures have been initiated and a digital strategy developed for SPK as part of the cross-institutional Digital Transformation Initiative. A new position of Chief Information Officer has now also been created, who will be responsible for the strategic direction and management of IT across the foundation, which forms the basis and framework for all digital services.
Last week, the SPK Board of Trustees confirmed Mr Johann Herzberg as Chief Information Officer. Herzberg will move to SPK on 1 October 2020 from the Senate Department for the Interior and Sport, where he has been responsible for the state of Berlin's overarching IT strategy since 2017. Born in Berlin in 1985, after studying philosophy at the Free University of Berlin, he completed a master's degree in public management with a focus on administrative informatics at Zeppelin University Friedrichshafen / Lake Constance. From 2013, he initially worked as an IT project manager in the eGovernment department of the state capital Stuttgart. In 2015, he moved to the IT Service Centre Berlin as Head of Corporate Strategy & IT Architecture.
Hermann Parzinger, President of the SPK, explains: "In Johann Herzberg, the SPK has gained a strategically focussed IT manager who also knows the framework conditions of public administration well. I am sure that his competence and expertise will be a great asset to the SPK, which is pursuing the topic of digitalisation with great vigour. The current crisis has once again clearly shown the importance of the digital offerings of the foundation's institutions for visitors and users, but also that the existing digital work structures for employees within the SPK need to be expanded even further."
