Parzinger: "On the way to the Humboldt Forum" campaign day was a complete success - Eissenhauer: Thanks to all Berliners

Press release from 11/27/2017

15,000 visitors last Saturday on the Museum Island and at the Kulturforum

The day of action "On the way to the Humboldt Forum", which the Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation and its National Museums in Berlin organised last Saturday on Museum Island and at the Kulturforum, was a complete success. According to Hermann Parzinger, President of the Foundation, 15,000 people visited the exhibitions "China and Egypt. Cradles of the World" at the Neues Museum, "Incomparable: Art from Africa at the Bode Museum", "Faces of China" at the Kulturforum, "Vis à Vis. Asia meets Europe" at the Museum of Decorative Arts and "Wechselblicke" at the Art Library.

"The weekend clearly showed that the Humboldt Forum can work with its comparative cultural approach. It was important for us to reach a particularly large number of Berliners and make them look forward to the exciting new city quarter in the centre of the city. We more than doubled our visitor numbers with the campaign day. The National Museums in Berlin are well prepared for the Humboldt Forum," says Hermann Parzinger.

"We would like to thank all Berliners who made their way to the Humboldt Forum with us on Saturday despite the bad weather," said Michael Eissenhauer, Director General of the National Museums in Berlin. "The great response confirms that the intercultural work with our collections is the right thing to do and that the National Museums in Berlin are taking an important position in the social discourse."

Correction: The day of action "On the way to the Humboldt Forum" was organised by the National Museums in Berlin and the Humboldt Forum Foundation in the Berlin Palace. The exhibition "Vorsicht Kinder! Protected, loved, endangered" in the Humboldt Box was also part of the day of action and attracted just over 1000 visitors.
