The Stiftung Preussischer Kulturbesitz (Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation) stands firmly by Ukraine and condemns the Russian government's brutal attack on this European country. As a sign of solidarity, Ukrainian flags are being flown on the Museumsinsel, the Kulturforum, and the buildings of the Staatsbibliothek zu Berlin (Berlin State Library). SPK President Hermann Parzinger: “Everything possible must be done to end this terrible war. Too many people have died already! At the same time, we must protect Ukraine's cultural heritage. We stand firmly by the Ukrainian people and in solidarity with Ukrainian scientists.

This is also true of our Russian colleagues, who are impressively and courageously opposing this cruel war in large numbers even though they might have to suffer reprisals as a result. There is no alternative to academic freedom. And now this too is threatened. Our colleagues, who are all fighting for precisely that, need our support.”
