The Humboldt Forum in Fast Motion
Not far from the Museumsinsel (Museum Island), a home for the cultures of the world is being created in the new Berliner Schloss (Berlin Palace). In June 2015, two years after the cornerstone was laid, the topping out ceremony was held.
Beginning in 2019, the planned Humboldt Forum in the reconstructed Berliner Schloss will house the outstanding collections of the Ethnologisches Museum (Ethnological Museum) and the Museum für Asiatischen Kunst (Asian Art Museum), both part of the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin (National Museums in Berlin). Their focus lies on the culture and art of Africa, Asia, Oceania, and America. The Humboldt Forum will contain exhibitions by the Stiftung Preussischer Kulturbesitz (Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation), the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin (Humboldt University Berlin), and the federal state of Berlin.
