Highlights of the Collections in Dahlem

During the period when Germany was divided, a wide variety of museums were located in Dahlem. The location did not develop a more focused identity until after the fall of the Berlin Wall. Today one finds there not only the Geheimes Staatsarchiv Preussischer Kulturbesitz (Secret State Archives Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation) and the Institut für Museumsforschung (Institute for Museum Research) but also the Ethnologisches Museum (Ethnological Museum), the Museum für Asiatische Kunst (Museum of Asian Art), and the Museum Europäischer Kulturen (Museum of European Cultures). Over the long term, Dahlem will gradually be abandoned as a location for museums.
