The Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation and Bloomberg are launching a multi-year partnership focused on digital education and outreach. The first programmes for the Altes Museum and the Museum of European Cultures are already available via the free Bloomberg Connects app.

The Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation (SPK) is working with Bloomberg to further expand its digital education and outreach programmes. The aim of this multi-year partnership is to create modern and accessible ways to engage with the SPK’s museums, collections and institutions, and to further develop digital offerings for a variety of target groups.

Via the free Bloomberg Connects app, visitors can access audio tours and information about exhibitions, events, research activities and other programmes. A key focus is on programmes for children, teenagers and young adults, as well as on inclusive and accessible ways to engage with the collections. Digital tours of selected works and themes are also planned, including provenance and architectural tours. These programmes can be accessed before, during and after a visit to the museum.

The first offerings from the Altes Museum and the Museum of European Cultures have been available via Bloomberg Connects since 27 July. At the Altes Museum, these include an audio tour of the special exhibition ‘Grundstein Antike’, a tour of the museum’s highlights and a tour in simple language. Visitors can also explore the collections by culture and theme, such as ‘Images of Ancient Myths’, ‘Materials and Manufacturing Techniques’ or ‘Female Figures in Antiquity’.

To mark the special exhibition ‘The Mountains of Tyrol’, the Museum of European Cultures is offering a family tour of the exhibition, as well as information about the museum and selected objects from the permanent exhibition ‘Cultural Contacts: Life in Europe’.

SPK President Marion Ackermann says: “Thanks to this partnership, we can offer our visitors a much more comprehensive museum experience. They can explore the collections digitally before their visit, choose themed tours whilst at the museum, or delve even deeper into their favourite works afterwards. In this way, we are strengthening education and outreach as the SPK’s core mission.”

Bloomberg Connects is a free app for museums, galleries, historic sites and cultural institutions. It now offers more than 1,500 guides in 67 languages for cultural institutions in 52 countries.
