Power outage in Berlin: free admission to SPK museums
Press release from 01/06/2026
Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation grants free admission to its museums up to and including Thursday for those affected by the power outage
The Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation is offering all visitors affected by the current power outage in Berlin free admission to all museums of the National Museums in Berlin and to the Musical Instrument Museum of the State Institute for Music Research from now until Thursday 8 January 2026.
In this way, the Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation would also like to make a contribution to supporting those directly affected and offer a warm place to stay during this difficult time.
SPK President Marion Ackermann explains: "The SPK is also particularly committed to the south-west of Berlin - but of course all our museums are open to those affected!"
Free admission applies to all those affected by the power outage, including school classes and groups. The free tickets will be issued in an uncomplicated and trustworthy manner at the ticket offices on site.
The National Museums in Berlin include the museums on Berlin's Museum Island and at the Kulturforum, as well as the MEK in Dahlem and the Museum of Photography and the Scharf-Gerstenberg Collection in Charlottenburg.
The opening hours can be found at

The other SPK institutions are open to everyone free of charge during their opening hours: the Berlin State Library with the Stabi Kulturwerk, the Secret State Archives PK (in Dahlem), and the Ibero-American Institute.
