“What wonderful news, a real triumph of cultural policy! The fact that the federal government and the State of Berlin have joined forces to safeguard the future of Hamburger Bahnhof and its Rieckhallen is just fantastic. Given the times we’re living in, it was not a foregone conclusion that they would team up to make this kind of investment. In doing so, they are putting one of the most internationally renowned and respected sites of contemporary art on a solid and sustainable footing.

The SPK has always believed that a commitment of this kind can only be undertaken together. And so I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to Claudia Roth, Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media, and her head of office, Andreas Görgen; the State of Berlin and its Governing Mayor Franziska Giffey; Senator for Culture Klaus Lederer, and Senator for Finance Daniel Wesener. I’m also grateful to CA Immo and the Institute for Federal Real Estate. Each and every one of them has contributed to this achievement.”
