Parzinger: Iran still not granting export licence for artworks - SPK committed to cultural dialogue

The planned exhibition "The Tehran Collection. The Tehran Museum of Contemporary Art in Berlin" at the Berlin Gemäldegalerie will now not be able to take place as planned. As the President of the Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation Hermann Parzinger explained, the cooperation agreement with the Tehran Museum of Contemporary Art has been terminated by the SPK: "The SPK has always attached great importance to the cultural dialogue between the Nationalgalerie and the Tehran Museum. The exhibition is an idea of both institutions. However, it is with great regret that we have now had to take this step. It has become necessary because Iran has still not issued an export licence for the artworks. Further delays in the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin's exhibition planning were no longer justifiable. However, the SPK remains committed to cultural exchange, including with Iran, and will continue to promote this dialogue with appropriate measures."
