Mshatta by night - "Notturno" by the DSO at the Pergamonmuseum on 25 January
Press release from 01/18/2013
String quartets from three centuries combined with an exclusive guided tour
As part of its chamber concert series 'Notturno', which the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin has been organising in cooperation with the Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation since 2010, the DSO invites you to the Pergamonmuseum on 25 January. The concert has been sold out for weeks.
From 9 pm, concert-goers will have the opportunity to take part in an exclusive guided tour of the precious art collections. The expert guide will be PD Dr Ute Franke, Deputy Director of the Museum of Islamic Art. The one-hour concert in the Mshatta Hall begins at 10 pm.
In a varied programme, the musicians of the DSO will present string quartets from the 18th to 21st centuries. The ensemble will juxtapose Mozart's Divertimento in F major with the string quartet 'Divorce' by Turkish composer Fazil Say, a contribution to the genre from 2010, in which experiences such as divorce, separation and the failure of a relationship are told through sounds and rhythms. The concert evening concludes with the String Quartet in F major by French impressionist composer Maurice Ravel, which he dedicated to his teacher Gabriel Fauré.
The DSO ensemble is made up of Serbian-born violinists Ksenija Zečević and Marija Mücke, US-born Robin Hong (viola) and Berlin cellist Claudia Benker.
