Hermann Parzinger on the Tagesspiegel survey on the Humboldt Forum

Press release from 06/15/2010

The President of the Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation, Hermann Parzinger, comments on the current reader survey conducted by the Tagesspiegel, which focused on the discussion surrounding the realisation of the Humboldt Forum:

"The results of the survey show that Berliners want to see the Humboldt Forum realised, even in view of the current financial situation. This reflects a high level of acceptance of the project among large sections of the population - a fact that should also be reflected in the corresponding political decisions. People don't want a wasteland in the centre of Berlin, they want a place of culture and openness for everyone, and that's exactly what the Humboldt Forum will be!"

The Tagesspiegel reports in today's edition that around 82.9 per cent of callers in its Pro&Contra at the weekend were against finally burying the palace plans. Only 17.1 per cent of participants were in favour of abandoning the construction project in Mitte altogether.
