Museum commission reiterates conservation concerns about the loan of Nefertiti
Press release from 04/20/2007
The Museum Commission of the Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation, a body of independent experts, firmly opposes the naive and disrespectful view of CulturCooperation to send Nefertiti on tour like a pop star without regard for conservation care and responsibility. The 3000-year-old Nefertiti must remain in existence for future generations.
It is completely unacceptable to use such methods to instrumentalise works of art. It also harms the legitimate aim of raising awareness of looted art and thus clearly distinguishing between legally acquired and illegal appropriation.
