Georgia Campus Concert in Berlin

The Beethovenfest’s Campus Project brings together young musicians from Georgia and Germany. At the James Simon Gallery, members of the Tbilisi Youth Orchestra, the German National Youth Orchestra and the German National Youth Choir, together with singers from Georgia, will combine works by Ludwig van Beethoven with 20th- and 21st-century Georgian music.
Under the musical direction of Mirian Khukhunaishvili, the programme ranges from Beethoven and Heinrich Schütz to works by Georgian composers. This also includes a commissioned work by the 17-year-old pianist and composer Tsotne Zedginidze.
Before the concert, Deutsche Welle invites you to a pre-concert talk and discussion entitled ‘Democracy under pressure? The situation for cultural and media professionals in Georgia’. The focus will be on the increasing restrictions on independent media and cultural professionals, as well as the country’s political and social situation.
