Inspiring Women: Third ‘Weimar Room’ opens at the James Simon Gallery
News from 07/02/2026
For the third time, the Weimar Classical Foundation is presenting the ‘Weimar Room’ in Berlin. From now on, visitors to the James Simon Gallery can catch a glimpse of the upcoming themed year, ‘Feminine Weimar’.

This is the third time that the Weimar Classical Foundation has brought its mobile exhibition space to the James Simon Gallery, run by the Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation. The current exhibition was opened on 30 June in collaboration with the Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation and the Free State of Thuringia’s representative office to the Federal Government.
Under the title ‘Weimar Rooms’, the foundation will be offering insights until the end of 2026 into the upcoming thematic years ‘Opening Up’ and ‘Feminine Weimar’, as well as into planned exhibitions and dialogue formats. The mobile branch thus once again serves as a showcase for the Klassik Stiftung’s programme in the federal capital.
250 years of women’s cultural history
The focus is particularly on the thematic year “Feminine Weimar”, which examines the role of women in Weimar’s cultural history over more than 250 years. In addition, perspectives on the Foundation’s cultural openness and further development are highlighted.
Gero Dimter, Vice-President of the Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation, emphasises: “The ‘Weimar Room’ is a showcase for the fascinating, inspiring and vibrant world of the Klassik Stiftung Weimar and exemplifies our federal solidarity and successful cooperation between Germany’s largest multi-disciplinary institutions.”
Ulrike Lorenz, President of the Weimar Classic Foundation, hopes the Weimar Room will whet visitors’ appetite for a visit to this city of culture: “We are focusing on women who have shaped culture and society from the Goethe era through the modern period to the present day, and would like to offer a glimpse right now into the planned exhibitions, experiments and debates for our new theme year.”
