Inaugural visit by SPK President Marion Ackermann to Thuringia
News from 01/08/2026
Marion Ackermann visited the UNESCO World Heritage Site "Jewish Erfurt" as part of her country trip. Discussions with Thuringian cultural stakeholders focussed on sustainable structures for cultural heritage.

As part of her trip to Thuringia, Marion Ackermann met with Minister of Culture Christian Tischner in Erfurt today. Following a city walk through the UNESCO World Heritage Site "Jewish Erfurt", talks were held with numerous Thuringian cultural stakeholders on the premises of the Ministry of Culture. The focus was on an intensive transfer of expertise - for example in the areas of disaster prevention, safeguarding cultural assets in times of tight budgets and the development of alternative financing and fundraising models. The aim is to jointly develop more resilient structures for cultural heritage.
Dr Marion Ackermann: "The SPK is jointly supported and financed by the federal government and all 16 federal states. Even though we are based in Berlin, we are present throughout Germany with the federal programme, among other things. We have particularly strong links with Thuringia. The best example of this is the 'Weimar Room', a temporary showcase of the Klassik Stiftung Weimar, which has already been a guest at the Staatsbibliothek Unter den Linden and the Kulturforum in the past two years."
