On the purchase of the Hamburg railway station and the Rieckhallen
Press release from 11/15/2022
Hermann Parzinger, President of the Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation, comments on the purchase of the Hamburg railway station and the associated Rieckhallen by the Federal Government and the State of Berlin:
"What news: a great moment in cultural policy! It's great that the federal government and the state of Berlin have jointly succeeded in securing the future of the Hamburger Bahnhof and its Rieckhallen in the long term. It is anything but a matter of course that the federal government and the state of Berlin are making such an investment in these times. In doing so, they are giving one of the most internationally important and renowned locations for contemporary art a long-term perspective.
The Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation has always been convinced that such a project can only be shouldered together. That is why I would like to express my sincere thanks to the Federal Government, with Minister of State for Culture Claudia Roth and her head of office Andreas Görgen, as well as the State of Berlin, with the Governing Mayor Franziska Giffey, Senator for Culture Klaus Lederer and Senator for Finance Daniel Wesener. I would also like to thank CA Immo and the Bundesanstalt für Immobilienaufgaben. Together, they have made this result possible."
"Today is a historic day for Hamburger Bahnhof. We are overjoyed to now be able to jointly realise a diverse, inclusive and sustainable programme in the heart of Berlin," adds Till Fellrath, Director of Hamburger Bahnhof - Nationalgalerie der Gegenwart together with Sam Bardaouil.
