Press release from 09/13/2021
Decision by the Board of Trustees: Claudia Zirra to head the new Department of Building and Technology at the Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation
The 55-year-old graduate engineer and architect Claudia Zirra is an experienced and highly qualified specialist for the numerous complex construction and property matters at SPK. After studying architecture at the Technical University of Munich, her first professional years in an architectural office in Stuttgart and her legal clerkship with a second state examination, she held management positions in various building administration offices in Bavaria. As a result, she not only has an excellent knowledge of construction, but is also very familiar with the role of the client and the management of larger administrative units as well as official organisational structures and processes. In addition, she has extensive knowledge of business administration, budget, procurement and contract law.
From 1996 to 2005, Claudia Zirra worked as head of department at the Nuremberg State Building Authority, where she was responsible for construction matters relating to a wide range of Bavarian state administration properties, including many listed buildings. In 2006, she moved to the Erlangen-Nuremberg State Building Authority, where she was deputy head of the University Building Department and was responsible for building matters at Nuremberg Institute of Technology, Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nuremberg and Erlangen University Hospital. During this time, she was also seconded to the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Building and Nuclear Safety for two years. This was followed by a position as Head of University Construction at the Regensburg State Building Authority from 2016. In all of these roles, she was responsible for building maintenance and strategic framework planning and project development as well as large, operationally and supply-related complex new construction, conversion and refurbishment projects, including many years at the Germanisches Nationalmuseum Nuremberg. Since February 2021, Claudia Zirra has worked as Head of the Construction Management Department and Deputy Head of Office at Berlin's Mitte District Office and is therefore already very familiar with Berlin construction projects.
