Electronic music from the roof of the Bode Museum - Parzinger: "We are in solidarity with the Berlin club scene
Press release from 07/03/2020
"SPOT // berlin art sessions": One-hour DJ set - top location of the National Museums in Berlin - streamed film
The Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation and its National Museums in Berlin are launching the "SPOT // berlin art sessions" project together with GERMAN ARTS. Electronic club music meets outstanding historical buildings and leads to film contributions that can be accessed worldwide. D-Nox & Beckers will kick things off by DJing on the roof of the Bode Museum. The film documentation is coupled with images from the sculpture collection and the Museum of Byzantine Art, which are housed in the Bode Museum. The roof of the Friedrichswerder Church will be the second location for SPOT with a set by Rauschhaus. Further sessions are in preparation.
The sessions will produce films that will be streamed worldwide and will be available at www.spot-productions.art from mid-July. SPOT // berlin art sessions shows that the cultural city of Berlin and its surroundings are highly attractive and lively despite coronavirus restrictions.
According to SPK President Hermann Parzinger, SPOT is not just about bringing together important buildings and music: "With this campaign organised by our partner GERMAN ARTS, we want to show clear solidarity with the Berlin club scene, which is suffering as a result of the coronavirus crisis and is an important part of the cultural landscape."
Christina Haak, Deputy Director General of the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin: "I'm delighted that SPOT allows us to look at the museums from a completely new perspective. Musical events are not uncommon for us, but here we have created a wonderful new series of events that take place in places that are not normally accessible, precisely because of the difficulties caused by coronavirus, which are currently making larger events more difficult."
SPOT is inspired by the French project "Cercle", which was launched in 2016 and now reaches more than one million viewers with its online shows. SPOT is technically realised by the production company German Arts.
