'Notturno' at the Alte Nationalgalerie on 01.02. A trio of the DSO plays works by Haydn, Kozeluch and Weber

Press release from 01/23/2019

An ensemble from the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin (DSO) presents itself with an unusual trio line-up at the second 'Notturno' evening of the season on 1 February. Works for transverse flute, violoncello and fortepiano by Haydn, Kozeluch and Weber are on the programme in the Deutsch-Römer-Saal of the Alte Nationalgalerie on Museum Island. From 9 pm, Dr Ralph Gleis, Director of the Alte Nationalgalerie of the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin, will give an insight into the museum's collection. From 9.15 pm, the museum can be explored in short guided tours before the concert begins at 10 pm.

The popular chamber concert series 'Notturno' continues on 1 February, this time on Museum Island. Musical night owls are invited to the Alte Nationalgalerie, which houses one of the most important collections of 19th century European painting and sculpture. Opposite the exhibited paintings and sculptures in the Deutsch-Römer-Saal, an unusual chamber music programme challenges the listener to new listening and viewing impressions. DSO members Gergely Bodoky (transverse flute) and Adele Bitter (violoncello), together with Mira Lange (fortepiano), dedicate themselves to rarely performed trio compositions by Joseph Haydn, Leopold Kozeluch and Carl Maria von Weber.

For over nine years, the DSO and the Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation have been delighting Berlin chamber music audiences with their 'Notturno' concert series at places of art and knowledge. The unique interplay of virtuoso chamber music in dialogue with extraordinary spaces and collections always creates diverse and inspiring art experiences. The last nocturnal chamber concert of this season will take place on 7 June 2019 at Hamburger Bahnhof - Museum für Gegenwart - Berlin.
