Nocturnal chamber concert 'Notturno' in the Gemäldegalerie on 2 November A DSO ensemble plays chamber music from duo to quintet

The concert series 'Notturno', organised by the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin (DSO) in cooperation with the Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation (SPK), will start its new season on 2 November. In the first nocturnal chamber concert of the 2018|2019 season, a DSO ensemble will present works by Boulanger, Khachaturian, Haydn, Prokofiev and Veress at the Gemäldegalerie am Kulturforum. At 9 pm, the Vice President of the SPK, Prof. Dr Günther Schauerte, welcomes the guests and provides insights into the plans for the redesign of the Kulturforum. From 9.15 pm, the picture gallery can be explored in short guided tours before the concert begins at 10 pm.
With chamber music for woodwinds and strings, DSO members Thomas Hecker (oboe), Richard Obermayer (clarinet), Byol Kang (violin), Igor Budinstein (viola) and Ander Perrino Cabello (double bass) will perform the first 'Notturno' concert of the season together with pianist Emi Munakata. Music lovers are invited to the Gemäldegalerie am Kulturforum, which houses one of the most important collections of European painting from the 13th to the 18th century. In this extraordinary concert ambience, a multifaceted chamber music programme from three centuries in interaction with the paintings on display will challenge you to new impressions of listening and seeing.
The Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation and the DSO are now entering their ninth season with their chamber concert series 'Notturno'. The inspiring combination of exquisite chamber music in dialogue with spaces and exhibits never fails to delight its Berlin audience. The other nocturnal chamber concerts this season will take place on 1 February 2019 at the Alte Nationalgalerie on Museum Island and on 7 June 2019 at Hamburger Bahnhof - Museum für Gegenwart.
