The SPK in 2018: spectacular archaeology, romantic wanderlust and a digital stream
Press release from 01/24/2018
Annual reception with guests from politics, the media, culture, tourism and business at the Neues Museum - Parzinger: SPK must work more interdisciplinary - Digital transformation, education and mediation core tasks in the coming years
At an annual reception in the Neues Museum, the Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation presented its programme for 2018. Foundation President Hermann Parzinger announced that the SPK would do even more to "communicate the fascination of our collections and holdings." This can no longer be taken for granted in a modern society of experience. Parzinger therefore cited education and outreach work and digital transformation as core topics for the coming years, as well as provenance research, which is becoming increasingly multifaceted. He also emphasised: "We are in the process of networking even more closely with each other, because what makes the SPK unique is its interdisciplinary approach - diversity is our strength. Through our digital strategy, we want to make cross-connections even more visible in the future and better utilise the potential of SPK."
During the course of the evening, the directors-general and directors of the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin, the Staatsbibliothek zu Berlin, the Geheimes Staatsarchiv Preußischer Kulturbesitz, the Ibero-Amerikanisches Institut and the Staatliches Institut für Musikforschung, together with curators and researchers from their institutions, presented their most important projects for 2018.
