Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation publishes magazine on the Humboldt Forum
Press release from 05/21/2015
To coincide with the topping-out ceremony for the new Berlin Palace, the Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation is publishing a magazine focussing on the outstanding collections of African, Oceanian and American art and culture that will be on display at the Humboldt Forum from 2019. The 60-page magazine was made possible by the Prussian Cultural Heritage Board of Trustees and produced by Tempus Corporate GmbH. The publication is now included in the weekly newspaper "DIE ZEIT" and is also available directly from the Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation at pressestelle@hv.spk-berlin.de.
According to the President of the Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation, Hermann Parzinger, the booklet shows "what is growing up in the centre of Berlin: a centre of world cultures that invites us to reflect on the foreign in our own." The SPK will move into the Humboldt Forum with the Ethnological Museum and the Museum of Asian Art. In the magazine, we show how and with what they will present themselves in the Berlin Palace - from Mayan vases and African plateau sandals to a Chinese pharmacy. The magazine also reveals how the relocation of the South Sea boats is organised, how to exhibit secret objects and the significance of a Nulis mask. The authors of the magazine include Christiane Meixner, René Aguigah, Sherko Fatah, Andreas Schäfer and Rainer Schmidt. The magazine is aimed at multipliers in the education and business sectors, readers with an interest in social policy as well as teenagers and young adults.
