A big step towards the Humboldt Forum

Press release from 11/28/2008

Francesco Stella (Vicenza) wins architectural competition - unanimous decision by the jury

The three partners of the Humboldt Forum, Stiftung Preußischer Kulturbesitz (SPK), Zentral- und Landesbibliothek Berlin (ZLB) and Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin (HU), are delighted that an outstanding basis has been found for the realisation planning of the Humboldt Forum. This sets the course for a speedy realisation. With the award-winning design, the three partners will create the new vibrant centre of Berlin.

Hermann Parzinger, President of the SPK, says: "I am very happy and the unanimity of the result speaks for itself."

Claudia Lux, Director General of the ZLB: "I think it's wonderful that our joint centre is now taking shape."

Christoph Markschies, President of HU: "I am delighted that the original unity of library, museum and university in Schlüter's Italian baroque building is being revitalised together with an Italian architect."

All three partners are looking forward to working with the architect Francesco Stella. From today, their concept can be brought together with the architecture.

In summer 2009, the jointly planned exhibition "Vision Humboldt-
Forum. The World in the Centre of Berlin" at the Altes Museum will give the public a more detailed insight into the concept for the future Humboldt Forum. Claudia Lux, Hermann Parzinger and Christoph Markschies would like to thank the Federal Government, the State of Berlin and the architects involved and look forward to continuing their collaboration.
