Lehmann on the library co-operation between Berlin and Munich

The President of the Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation, Klaus-Dieter Lehmann, whose area of responsibility includes the Staatsbibliothek zu Berlin, welcomes the concrete form of the cooperation agreement with the Bayerische Staatsbibliothek: "This will not only improve the local service in a targeted manner, but also make the presence of both libraries and the communication of their literary potential even more efficient internationally."

Today, the two largest universal libraries in Germany, which together hold 19 million volumes, announced in a joint press release that they will be working more closely together in future. The Bayerische Staatsbibliothek München and the Staatsbibliothek zu Berlin - Preußischer Kulturbesitz signed a cooperation agreement on 23 January 2006, which stipulates joint and coordinated work in all central tasks.
