Mario Vargas Llosa (1936 – 2025) visited the IAI in person several times. Among other ocasions, in 1997 for research work on his novel La fiesta del chivo (2000) and in 2005 as a keynote speaker for the 75th anniversary of the Institute. The display cases commemorate his visits to Berlin, his literary work and the reception and translation of his work in Germany.
