Lehmann: Humboldt Forum Needs the Supervisory Authority of SPK

News from 09/20/2022

Former SPK President Klaus-Dieter Lehmann recalls the ideas that led to the creation of the “palace of world cultures.”

Former SPK President Klaus-Dieter Lehmann has called for the SPK to be granted “greater responsibility for the program” of the Humboldt Forum. That would give the Forum the overall conceptual vision and negotiating power that it currently lacks, and it would be a viable and sensible thing to do now, while the SPK is in the midst of a reorganization, said Lehmann in conversation with former ZDF journalist Carola Wedel. The evening event at the Buchhändlerkeller, a literary venue, was headlined “From Idea to Realization – Background to the Creation of the Humboldt Forum.” On September 22, Lars-Christian Koch, the director of the Ethnologisches Museum (Ethnological Museum) and the Museum für Asiatische Kunst (Asian Art Museum), will join Wedel to discuss a further aspect: “The Humboldt Forum Is Completed – Is the World a Better Place?”
