News from 02/24/2022

Started by the Australian State Library of New South Wales in 2006, Library Lovers’ Day became an official holiday of the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA) in 2007. With every passing year, support for it grows around the world. As ALIA explains: “It's a day to remember that our libraries are a place where we can get lost in an idea we are following, find an adventure we are seeking in a book, discover more about an issue we feel passionate about or get help from someone about something we want to know.”
This day, in other words, is a fitting occasion to rediscover libraries and honor them as places that open up new worlds, impart new knowledge and reward passionate readers with valuable advice and inspiration.

Successful Twitter Campaign Celebrates Library Lovers’ Day

The library of the Ibero-Amerikanisches Institut (Ibero-American Institute) took to Twitter this year to celebrate Library Lovers’ Day with the hashtag #LibraryLoversDay. IAI staff presented unique finds from the library’s collection and offered behind-the-scenes glimpses of the library in operation. Their tweets got over 10,000 views and within just a few days attracted a record number of almost 200 new followers.
