If you want to spend a year doing cultural work at the Foundation as a volunteer, you can do so as part of the Freiwilliges Soziales Jahr in der Kultur (Voluntary Social Year in Culture, FSJ Kultur) program. The Stiftung Preussischer Kulturbesitz (Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation) offers several positions annually. They are available at the Staatsbibliothek zu Berlin (Berlin State Library) and the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin (National Museums in Berlin). If you are interested, send your application to the authority responsible for the Voluntary Service program: the Landesvereinigung Kulturelle Jugendbildung Berlin e.V. (State Association for Youth Education in Culture, LKJ Berlin).

Voluntary Social Year in Culture

A Voluntary Social Year entails voluntary service in a social, charitable or non-profit institution. It is offered to teenagers and young adults in Germany who have fulfilled the requirement for full-time schooling and have not yet turned twenty-seven. As a rule, the FSJ lasts at least six and no more than eighteen months. Since 2002, the Voluntary Social Year in Culture has been an option. In Berlin, the FSJ Kultur is organized by the Landesvereinigung Kulturelle Jugendbildung Berlin e.V. This association also coordinates the deployment of FSJ volunteers.
