The Federal Exhibition Program was founded in 1999 at the initiative of the President of the Stiftung Preussischer Kulturbesitz. It was based on the idea that the Foundation is supported jointly by the federal and state governments. The Foundation therefore sees it as its task to make its cultural treasures available in other states as well.

The Federal Exhibition Program offers a number of curated exhibitions from all areas of the Foundation’s collections. They can be presented by other cultural institutions without further costs for their conception. In addition, the Foundation can also permit long-term loans of objects from its collections. As part of the Federal Exhibition Program, it also sets up a few so-called branch galleries.
