Numismatic Collection

With over 500,000 items, the Numismatic Collection is one of the greatest of its kind. It owes its international reputation to the wealth and completeness of its individual collections, ranging in scope from the origins of coinmaking in Asia Minor in the 7th century BC to the coins and medals of the 20th century.

Sculpture Collection and Museum of Byzantine Art

The Museum of Byzantine Art, which merged with the Sculpture Collection in 2000 to form a single museum, holds a first-class collection of late classical and Byzantine art, and is the only museum of its kind in Germany. On display are early Christian, Byzantine and post-Byzantine works dating from the 3rd to the 19th centuries.
