If you have a university degree, you can complete a traineeship at the Foundation to prepare for higher civil service in a library or archive. Legal trainees can fulfil their administrative or elective stage here.

Traineeships in the library and archive last for two years. Traineeships in advanced library services are offered by the Staatsbibliothek zu Berlin (Berlin State Library) and the Ibero-Amerikanisches Institut (Ibero-American Institute). Preparation for the higher civil service in archives is offered at the Geheimes Staatsarchiv PK (Prussian Secret State Archives). You will find all the current listings for traineeships in the Open Positions portal.

There are a limited number of opportunities to complete the administrative or elective stage of a legal traineeship (“Rechtsreferendariat”) at the Stiftung Preussischer Kulturbesitz (Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation). Such training takes place in the Human Resources Department or in the legal office. Please submit your application to the Human Resources Department.
